Educated electorate

The truth of politics is probably unfortunately like electing homecoming queen where popularity is the most important factor. But what if, instead of letting the media decipher our elected representatives for us, we looked at the meat of the matter - their voting records? It's oh, so easy (just be sure to look at the synopsis of the bill - titles often don't accurately represent content):

tmehoicpWell said Sara Beth.
Many times the media explains a bill to us and many of us still don't get it.
Advertisements usually only tell one side of an issue, even when they claim to "only educate" us about it.
Titles mean VERY LITTLE in politics. Greensboro voters have been misled on many bond issue proposals over the years.
My questions are WHY? HOW? And DO WE CARE?

Diane,

So nice to see you on my blog!

In my mind, the questions I'd really love to answer are: How do we get people to care? How do we get them to pay enough attention so that we can educate people both about the ways they are manipulated in the political process and the ways to see through the politicking?
