Why Bush terrifies me

My new favorite national blogger, Cenk Uygur, succinctly explained why I'm terrified of Bush, including his aversion to introspection, his reverse-Medusa touch, and his need to feed his undeserved pride.

Read the excellent post here.

"his reverse-Medusa touch"

Ha, I tried to imagine what that would be. I think you might have meant his reverse-Midas touch.

D'oh! Note to self: no more posting while half-asleep. Thanks for the catch, Roch!

What would reverse-Medusa touch be? People turn beautiful? Bush certainly doesn't have that!

Got back from Denver- at 3:30 am- w/out luggage! Is this the post you wanted me to read.

I really don't know what to say. I like everyone on his top 10 list. I wonder if there is an objective bone in his post...

Here's what I learned during the Clinton administration, perhaps it will calm your fears. Our country's not about the President and political leaders. We thrive depite them.

With Clinton we had a brilliant man who's lack of discipline and self control ruined any chance he had to lead effectively. We know he lied about sexual harrassment, was unfaithful to his wife and daughter, and bungled his party's 40+ year rule over congress. (There's more, but these are the things both sides agree on.) Yet the country thrives.

The only hiccups seem to be indirectly (at best) related to bad political leaders and policy. Things like the economy, Pearl Harbour, 9/11.

Then there are bad things that happen because of well intended policies. Welfare- the war on poverty- had great intentions and certainly helped alot of folks. But it also harmed people indirectly.

Several family mambers of mine have met Gonzales, Reno and Ascroft. They are honorable people.
