Billy the Blogging Write-In Candidate
Billy Jones, the blogging poet, is putting himself up as a write-in candidate for mayor. I have to say that I can find no fault in his platform - in fact, there's a lot in there that I would love to see happen and I particularly love that he's taking no contributions. Of course, I thought a lot of Yvonne Johnson when I saw her at the League of Women Voters mayoral forum. Seems I have some research to do before election day...

You were impressed with Yvonne Johnson because she knew the issues well. She should after having been on the council so long. However she has never seen a project requiring money or a tax increase she didn’t approve of. She also goes with the wind and will vote on any thing sponsored by the Pulpit Forum or Simkins PAC even “if I don’t agree with all of it” (Her words concerning the Pulpit Forums Declaration of Intolerable Racism ). As a City Counsel member she had no business endorsing anything she did not believe in as the common belief is that she is representing the city of Greensboro in everything that she does publicly.
Milton Kern on the other hand is a millionaire developer so as they say “connect the dots”. It might also interest you to know that his campaign literature was postmarked Raleigh and I would lay ten to one he also had this literature printed by an outside firm. We in Greensboro have competent printers that you would think a person running for mayor of the city would use so as to encourage business in Greensboro as his literature says he believes in.
Billy Jones is a good man and a good candidate. It is a shame he hasn’t a snow balls chance of winning. But he will have my vote because to vote for either one of the others will surely give me heartburn.
Great insight - thanks for sharing, Brenda!
Sarah and Brenda,
Thank you both so much for your support. If you have any concerns as to where I stand or how I plan to let Greensboro shine please feel free to ask.
And please keep spreading the word as I launched my secret weapon today.
